Kow Tahm Insight Meditation Center is situated on a mountainside, amongst unspoilt jungle and coconut plantations, overlooking the southern shoreline of Koh Phangan. This beautiful location has been offering meditation retreats for over 25 years.

In 1987 the Head Nun, Mae Chee Amorn Pun, requested that two foreigners, Rosemary and Steve Weissman, help teach meditation to the growing number of travellers that came in search of instruction.

By May 1988, the first intensive 10-Day retreat was held, and for the next 25 years Steve and Rosemary developed, lived, and taught their style of meditation – Compassionate Understanding – to over 8000 foreigners. Their dedication to teaching practical Buddhism and their efforts in developing the physical infrastructure of the meditation centre have created a unique and ideal environment for intensive retreats.
